In April, while Gerry was travelling with the Odyssey group, Judith moved their household belongings from Vancouver to their new home in Lunenburg. In June, she flew to Portugal and met Gerry in Lisbon. While the Odyssey group went to ride in the US and Canada, they rented a van and drove together from Portugal to Denmark and then to Paris. Judith flew home to Nova Scotia and Gerry re-joined the Odyssey group when they returned to Paris from Canada.

Guangxi produces 85% of star anise grown in the world – the major ingredient in the antiviral oseltamivir. Important crops include rice, maize, sweet potatoes –
cash crops are sugar cane, peanuts, tobacco and kenaf.

Gerry’s art from Odyssey stopped here though the group continued to Hanoi, Vietnam into Saigon, then flew to Thailand, rode south to Malaysia and finally to Singapore when the tour ended for the majority of riders. Gerry returned home to Nova Scotia on November 28, 2000.
